Work in collaboration with designer Ammandine Forest and the CSM Graphics Staff Posters, banners and captions printed in CSM. “We invite you to explore how our graduating students are using their practices to interject (without erasing), frame [without confining] and gather {without excluding}.” &nbsp; In collaboration with the incredibly talented Amandine Forest and the CSM GCD staffmembers, this project aims to celebrate the amazing work the new graduates of the 3 different graphic communication design courses have worked on with a loud and almost obstrustive design identity. The identity primarily celebrates the power of glyphs and their ability to be both informative and ornamental, with the brackets representing the community the graphic communication design courses fosters.This project also allowed me to further develop my motion graphics skills through the digital media presence. The shapes reflect the diverse ways in which our students create their own path as a designer through iterating and experience, forming an identity that is unique to themselves. This project has allowed me to expand my skills across many different mediums, as we worked to create an identity that could be successfully translated both online and in a physical space. Our core values throughout this project has been to celebrate the craftier aspect of graphic design history, working closely with paper mill G.F Smith to create an identity that feels more organic and the Arts London: Central Saint Martins Graduate Showcase identity for 2023 graduates In addition to working on my practice, I’ve also had the privilege to work on the identity design for my own Graduate showcase for Central Saint Martins alongside some of my friends. The resulting design is a multiple medium-spanning project consisting of website design, physical print design, social media, and wayfinding design. The design itself is a simple kinetic typography piece against a solid colour background, displaying the characters ‘CSM SHOWS 2023’ interacting with each other in unique and unexpected ways. For us, the simplicity of the design allowed us to fully embody the emotions and characters of CSM graduates through the way the characters interacted with each other and how the deign interacted within its space, be in in the physical world or in the digital space. It has in turn, been seen by over 33,000 people over the course of one week, and invitiations with our design having been sent to over 20,000 people and industry members. It aims to immerse the audience into the world of futurism, and get them to better understand the importance of futurism as a design aesthetic. In addition, it aims to revise the way in which we, as designers, design for the future, by rejecting the western cisheteronormative canon of futurism, and archiving more marginalised voices, so that futurists are not just working with the status quo, but considering the experiences and hopes of people around the world. They all present and illustrate different self-described eras of futurism, as way to immerse the audience into these different possible future worlds. The illustrations are best viewed as a group, but can also be viewed on their own to get the idea.The aim of these posters is to get a baseline understanding of how disparate elements, such as architecture, fashion, interior design and even city-planning affected the way the future was speculated upon throughout different periods of history, and how historical events affected these designs. It is a community-based project, with lots and lots of input from a diverse range of different Russian speakers, speaking about their relationship to the language, the culture, and the aftermath of that relationship in the face of a gruesome war.It is positioned as a sort of funeral, in the sense that it is an experience where people of one community come together to celebrate, commiserate, mourn and to look into the future. The project is inherently going to age strangely, as it is capturing the moods of people who have had to watch this unfold, so it acts almost as a time capsule for 2022.
